5.Attendance: Students are required to attend a minimum of 75% of classes in one academic year. Students falling short of attendance will not be allowed to appear in the annual evaluation test. School has developed automated attendance notification through VCR for the parents to know the attendance of his/ her wards(s) through School Software. | |||

13.Parents and Students Complaint Procedure: -The school encourages resolving issues amicably through direct discussions. 13.2 Formal Complaint -If an informal discussion does not lead to a satisfactory resolution, the student/parent may file a formal complaint -The complaint must include: -A clear description of the issue. -Names of individuals involved. -Any supporting evidence or documentation. -The complaint must be submitted in writing to the Headmaster/Headmistress Superintendent/Coordinator. 13.3Review by Administration -Upon receiving the complaint, the Head will review the matter. -The review process may include: -Gathering additional information -Interviewing witnesses -Consulting relevant parties. -Based on the collected information, the Head will decide on an appropriate action 13.4Resolution -After the investigation, the school will work with the concerned parties to reach a fair and reasonable resolution -The resolution will align with the school’s policies and procedures 13.5Appeal Process -If the student/parent is dissatisfied with the Head’s decision, they may appeal to the Chairman/Rector/Higher Administration -The appeal must be submitted in writing within five school days of receiving the decision -The Chairman/Rector/Higher Administration will: -Review the original complaint. -Examine the investigation process. -Evaluate the decision taken by the Head. -After the review, a final ruling will be made. -The final decision will be communicated to all parties within a given timeframe, and it will be binding. | |||
14.Some other informations: (14.1)The progress report must be returned to the school with the signature of the Guardian within a week of issue of the report after each terminal evaluation. (14.2)Students dismissed/withdrawn without intimation are not re-admitted. (14.3)It is the policy of the school to discourage private tuition, as a pupil is expected to progress in his/her studies as a result of good teaching in the school. (14.4)Teachers are not allowed to undertake private tuitions which will in any way interfere with the proper execution of their school duties. 15.Career Counselling: Seminar/ Symposium/ lecture-session is arranged every alternate Friday for the students of Class IX, X, X and XII to guide them to select/ pursure right choice in academic career. 16.I.Q Test & Psychological Guidance: Students may avail the opportunity of I.Q. Test and Psychological Guidance conducted by experts/ institute on behalf of the school. The expert opinion is helpful for choosing fields of studies/other options to the students. Students need to pay separately for expert/ other institutional guidance. | |||
17.Using of Computer : For the students of class IX, X, XI and XII apart from ICSE/ISC syllabus computer curriculum is based beyond that in view of modern needs. This curriculum is purely optional and classes are held after scheduled school hours. | |||
18.Creation of Hobby Workshop: A hobby workshop has been started in the school. Students may join these hobby workshops during every Saturday and Sunday. | |||

Maria’s Day School House System Guidebook
1. Introduction:
The House System at Maria’s Day School fosters team spirit, leadership, discipline, and school pride. Every student from Class 6 to Class 12 is assigned to one of four houses:
-Red House
-Blue House
-Green House

It encourages healthy competition, teamwork, and holistic development through academics, sports, cultural events, and social service activities
2.House Structure & Responsibilities:
Each house is led by:
-House Captain (Class 12) – Leads and motivates the team.

3.Senior Prefect System

Estd. in 1982. The School is affiliated with the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) New Delhi for ICSE ( Xth Std.) and ISC ( XIIth Std) for Science, Arts, and Commerce streams. It is a complete co-educational, English Medium School from Nursery to Class XII. Situated at the heart of Howrah City at Howrah Maidan, a few steps away from the proposed Metro Railway Station and within 1 k.m. of walking distance from Howrah Railway Station.
The school with more than 3500 students in enrollment, is run by the Giribala Memorial Trust. The school session is from April to March.
The admission form for the next session is available from the month of November each year. Students of Maria’s Day School are exempted from the admission procedure in class XI. They are promoted to class XI and offered a stream provisionally on the basis of the previous examinations. Final admission to any student in class XI is offered only after publication of the Council’s result and after due approval from the Council for eligibility.
The standard of performance in ICSE/ISC is good and in comparison to the best in the country. The number of students scoring above 90% and qualified in competitive examinations is a matter of great achievement in this school.
The school library and laboratories for Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and Computer Science are highly equipped and of research standard.
